Pigmentation
Pigmentation spots in for example the face, neck or decolleté can be considerably reduced with our IPL and laser method. Our treatment does not only fade the pigmentation but also improves the skin quality significantly.
Pigmentation spots
Pigmentation can occur everywhere on the body. The spots often are most unpleasant in the face, decolleté, neck, or on the hands.
Sun damage (UV light) activates pigmentation in the skin. Sun damage during youth may be a cause of pigmentation at an older age. Pigmentation spots can also be hereditary, or can be caused by medication. Acne, wounds, or abrasions can also leave pigmentation in the skin, often in the form of scars.
When pigmentation has a hormonal cause, such as with pregnancy or contraception (the pill), we speak of melasma.
Our answer
With our IPL and laser method we can fade the pigmentation spots and considerably improve the skin quality. Sun damage can however cause new pigmentation to form over time.
With our treatment we fade pigmentation and improve the skin quality.
Intake
The first step is always an intake with our laser specialist. During this consultation our exact method, your wishes and the realistic possibilities are discussed.
Customized treatment
During the consultation the specialist inspects your skin and the pigmentation spots. Because every type of skin and pigmentation is different we need to customize each treatment for optimal results. The exact price and the number of treatments required therefore also differ for each person.
For an intake we charge € 35,-. In most cases we can plan an intake with a treatment directly after, if so desired and requested in advance.
Pre-care
For a treatment with the IPL the skin needs to be as light as possible. Avoid sun tanning and tanning beds during the 3 to 4 weeks before the treatment. Any tanning cream (bronzer) needs to be avoided 1 week before the treatment.
Treatment
For the treatment of pigmentation we use the latest Ellipse IPL (Nordlys) and several lasers. The energy of the IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) and the lasers breaks down the pigmentation into tiny particles. This causes the pigmentation to fade.
We currently have over 25 years of experience with the most effective method for removing pigmentation spots.
Number of treatments
Most of the times we see a significant improvement after 2 treatments already. Possibly 2 to 4 treatments are required depending on the amount and depth of the pigmentation. Melasma is a form of pigmentation that requires maintenance.
Over 25 years of experience
It is important that pigmentation spots are treated by a skilled specialist in order to safely achieve optimal results. We have over 25 years of experience with this treatment and thus have treated a wide variety of skin and pigmentation. As such our laser specialists are more than qualified to customize and perform the most effective treatment.
Aftercare
After a treatment against pigmentation spots the following practical matters apply:
- The treated pigmentation spots may show some darker discolourations. This is the sign that the pigmentation is being broken down and will slowly fade with the renewal of the skin. The discolourations usually disappear within 1 to 2 weeks.
- It is also possible for some scabs to appear on the treated pigmentation spots. These scabs usually disappear after 1 to 2 weeks. It is important to leave the scabs alone - they need to come off by themselves.
- No sun, tanning beds, or tanning cream (bronzer) for the first 3 to 4 weeks after the treatment.
- A proper sunscreen (factor 30 or higher) is advised at all times.
Result
The light of the IPL and lasers is absorbed by the skin and transformed into heat. This causes the pigmentation to fade, the pores to refine and the skin texture and tone to improve.
Improved skin quality
The positive side effect of the treatment of pigmentation spots is that the skin quality improves. The production of collagen is stimulated, the pores refine, the skin strengthens and becomes more elastic, wrinkles are reduced and the local blood stream is stimulated. As a result the skin appears fresher and smoother.
Apart from our treatments it is important to protect and take care of your skin in daily life as well.
Our advice
Sunlight (UV radiation) can damage the skin again, thus causing new pigmentation. In order to maintain the improved skin quality we advise a regular follow-up treatment. We also advise that sun protection (SPF 30-50) should be used every 2 hours at all times.
Our products
We have a range of creams and serums that can counter pigmentation spots, and that protect the skin from the sun. During the consultation, our specialists can advise which of our products are best suitable for the needs of your skin.
