Fillers
Fillers are used to fill wrinkles and add volume to areas such as the lips, sunken cheeks or temples. Our doctors work with several types of fillers, each with unique properties to improve contours and to keep your skin rejuvenated and healthy.
Wrinkles & Volume
After the age of 25, the skin produces less and less collagen, causing the face to lose volume and wrinkles to form. It is also possible that the face has never had the desired volume – think of the lips, for example. There is a choice of two types of fillers to give volume to the face and fill in wrinkles. The cosmetic doctor will determine together with you which filler is best suited to your wishes. In the case of superficial wrinkles, a treatment with Botox® deliver the best results.
Intake
A consultation with the cosmetic doctor always takes place first. During this consultation, our method, your wishes and realistic options are discussed. The aim of every treatment is to have a positive impact on how you feel, both in your personal and professional life.
During the consultation, the doctor inspects the area to be treated. Because every skin and every form of wrinkling and volume loss is different, we draw up a personal treatment plan for each client. The exact price per treatment and the number of treatments required therefore also differ per person.
A consultation with the cosmetic doctor costs € 50,-. These costs will be deducted from the costs of the treatment, provided that the treatment takes place within 6 months of the consultation date.
Unique faces require unique, tailor-made treatments.
Pre-care
During the consultation, the doctor will ask you about any medication you are taking. The use of blood thinners immediately before treatment can lead to complications. If you are taking such medication, it must be stopped at least 1 week in advance in consultation with your prescribing doctor (GP or specialist).
Any make-up is removed before the treatment. No further precautions are required for a treatment with fillers.
Treatment
The filler is injected under the skin via a small injection needle, at the spot where more volume is desired. This can give extra volume to the lips, but also to, for example, sunken cheeks or temples. Deep wrinkles, such as from the nose to the lips or the corners of the mouth (marionette lines) can also be greatly improved.
Without needle
Fillers can also be applied without a needle. With a so-called cannula, the chance of bruising is minimal and the treatment is virtually painless.
Over 20 years of experience
It is important that fillers are administered by a qualified physician to achieve the most optimal results in a safe manner. We have over 20 years of experience with both hyaluronic acid and dynamic fillers and have therefore treated a wide variety of skin, wrinkles and volume loss. As such, our cosmetic doctors are extremely capable of configuring and performing the most effective treatment.
By injecting fillers without a needle, the treatment is virtually painless.
Hyaluronic acid
Hyaluronic acid is a biodegradable product that occurs naturally in our bodies. There are several brands on the market, including Restylane® and Juvederm®. When hyaluronic acid is injected into or under the skin, with or without a needle, an immediate increase in volume is visible. This result is enhanced during the first 2 weeks after the treatment, as hyaluronic acid attracts extra moisture. After 3 to 6 months, the filler has been broken down by the body and a follow-up treatment may be necessary.
The result of hyaluronic acid fillers is almost immediately visible.
Dynamic fillers
Sculptra®, Radiesse® and Ellansé® are examples of dynamic fillers. Once these fillers are injected under the skin, with a needle or cannula, they stimulate the production of collagen. This rejuvenates and strengthens the skin. After a while (a few weeks), the filler has largely dissolved, which makes the volume appear to have reduced. However, the production of collagen is still stimulated in the following months. As a result, it can take several months for the final result to become clearly visible. It is also possible that follow-up treatments are necessary to achieve the desired result.
Aftercare
After a treatment with fillers, the following practical matters are important:
- During the first 2 weeks, extreme heat (sunbed and sauna) and cold are not recommended.
- Sports are not recommended on the day of treatment
- After the treatment, bruising (blue spots), some swelling and some redness may occur. These will disappear by themselves.
- You can go back to work immediately after the treatment, but please be aware that you may experience some bruising.
- For the first 6 weeks, you should protect the treated area well from the sun with a good UV protection factor (SPF 30 or higher).
- You should definitely protect any bruises with a sun protection factor (SPF 30 or higher).
Results
With dynamic fillers it can take several months for the final result to be visible, while with hyaluronic acid fillers the result is optimal within two weeks. Both types of fillers stimulate the production of collagen, which rejuvenates the skin.
Hyaluronic acid remains in the skin for 3 to 18 months and is then completely broken down by the body itself. Dynamic fillers are largely dissolved after a few weeks, although the production of collagen in the skin continues for several months. As a result, dynamic fillers require more time and possibly multiple treatments to achieve the desired result, but they can ultimately provide good results for a longer period of time.
The cosmetic doctor will determine together with you which type of filler best suits your wishes.
Both smoking and sunbathing have a negative effect on the result of the treatment. Both factors cause an accelerated aging of the skin and therefore reduce the duration of the result.
Follow-up treatment
If the desired result has not yet been achieved, you are welcome for a check-up after 2 to 4 weeks. If necessary, a follow-up treatment can be planned, or take place. In most cases, we see that follow-up treatments give an even longer and more beautiful result.
